25 April 2019

Singapore, 25 April 2019 – NTUC Enterprise Co-operative Limited (“NTUC Enterprise”) has announced several initiatives to help Singaporeans manage the cost of living, reaffirming its commitment to help increase affordability and accessibility of daily necessities to Singaporeans and workers.

Last month (18 March 2019), NTUC Enterprise, the holding entity and single largest shareholder of the NTUC Social Enterprises, announced two new initiatives to help families manage the cost of groceries. These initiatives include holding and dropping prices of 100 housebrand products to ensure 20% to 38% savings1, as well as a 3% Merdeka Generation discount2, at NTUC FairPrice.

NTUC Foodfare and Kopitiam: Improving Accessibility to Affordable Meals
Today, NTUC Enterprise reaffirmed its commitment to increase accessibility to affordable meals by announcing three new initiatives. Following the completed acquisition of Kopitiam Investment Pte Ltd (“Kopitiam”), NTUC Enterprise is leveraging the combined footprint of NTUC Foodfare and Kopitiam to offer more consumers the affordable Breakfast Set3 that costs $1.80 for NTUC Union members and $2.20 for members of the public.

From 1 June 2019, the number of outlets providing these Breakfast Sets will more than double, from 25 to 52 outlets. NTUC Foodfare will also target to have at least one Rice Garden4 outlet in every densely populated residential estate to ensure affordable cooked meals become more accessible to Singaporeans, growing the number of outlets from 45 to 55 by end 2019.

NTUC Foodfare and Kopitiam will be reducing prices of coffee (“kopi”) and tea (“teh”) to 50 cents5. Over 1.7 million NTUC union members, Merdeka and Pioneer Generation Singaporeans stand to benefit from this initiative. The 50 cents kopi and teh will be available at close to 100 NTUC Foodfare and Kopitiam food courts and coffee shops across the island:
